Ingredients (serves for 3)
Green peas (fresh or frozen) - 3/4 cup (1 cup size = 150 ml)
paneer cubes- 1 cup
cardamom - 1
cinnamon - 3 small sticks
cloves - 1
big onion - 1
tomato - 1
turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
red chili powder - 1 tsp
coriander powder - 1 tsp
garam masala - 1/2 tsp
curd - 4 tsp
salt - as needed
lemon juice - 1/4 tsp
coriander leaves - for garnishing
oil - 7-8 tsp
pepper - 1/2 tsp
cumin seeds - 1 tsp
green chili - 2
ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
Method:
- slit green chilies lengthwise, chop onions and tomatoes
- microwave green peas for 2 - 3 mins and keep it aside. If you don't have microwave, cook it in a vessel for 4 - 5 mins.
- shallow fry paneer cubes in 2 tsp of oil and add it to the boiled water till use
- heat a vessel with one tsp of oil and add cinnamon sticks, cardamom, cloves, pepper and cumin seeds
- once cumin seeds splatters, add sliced onions
- fry till the onions become golden brown in color and then add coriander powder, red chili powder and turmeric powder
- saute it for a minute, cool it down and grind it to a thick paste
- heat a vessel with 6 tsp of oil and add green chilies , ginger garlic paste
- saute it for a minute and add the grounded paste
- add chopped tomatoes and salt, mix well and cook covered till oil oozes out
- add cooked peas, curd and mix well
- add paneer cubes, 1 cup of water and garam masala
- cook for 6 - 8 mins
- Switch off the flame and add lemon juice. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
- Serve as a side dish for chappathi, roti, paratha and any type of pulao.
