Palak paratha |
Ingredients (6 Parathas)
Wheat flour - 2 cups (1 cup size = 150 ml)
salt - as needed
Palak (spinach) leaves - 2 cups
jeera / cumin seeds - 1 tsp
chilli powder - 1 tsp
coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
water - as needed
oil - 4 - 5 tsp
Method:
- Wash and chop the spinach leaves
- Heat a pan with 1 tsp of oil and add cumin seeds
- saute it for a minute and add the spinach leaves. Saute untill the leaves are shrinked and cooked
- grind the cooked spinach to a smooth paste
- In a vessel, add wheat flour, salt, turmeric, coriander powder, chilli powder and mix well
- Mix the grounded spinach with the flour and then add 2 tsp of oil and water little by little and make a smooth dough
- Keep it covered using a wet cloth for 10 - 15 mins.
- Make 6 equal size balls and roll it to a flat circle using rolling pin. Dust it with flour whenever necessary while rolling the parathas
- Heat pan, drizzle some oil and cook the parathas on both sides in medium flame until golden spot appears.
- Serve hot with raitha / bhoondi raitha / pickle or any type of kurma / gravy.
