Bread kesari

Ingredients (serves for 2)

white / wheat bread slices - 4
ghee - 5 - 6 tsp
sugar - 8 tsp
milk - 1/4 cup (1 cup size = 150 ml)
cardamom powder - a pinch (optional)
cashews (optional)


  • Grind the bread slices coarsely.(You can also use the top and bottom crust of the bread. )

  • Heat a heavy bottomed vessel with 3 tsp of ghee and roast the bread powder for 4- 5 mins. It will give a nice aroma.  
  • add sugar, cardamom powder(optional) and milk . If you want it more sweeter then add more sugar however always remember to sprinkle little water / milk to dissolve the sugar.
  • mash it for 5 - 8 mins and 2 more tsp of ghee
  • When you get a glaze effect, some ghee will ooze out, switch off the flame. 
  • Garnish it with fried cashews. (optional)
